McNab is entering its next phase of growth, and we’re looking for a payroll professional ready to take on their next challenge with us as a Senior Payroll Officer.

At McNab, we know that paying our people accurately and on time is one of the most important commitments we make. We're looking for an experienced payroll professional to join McNab as a Senior Payroll Officer and take end-to-end ownership of a high-volume payroll portfolio.

You might already be operating at Senior level, or you might be a strong Payroll Officer ready for more ownership and responsibility. Either way, you'll have an experienced team around you, genuine support to develop and the opportunity to continue building your technical payroll capability.

With annually rotating portfolios designed to broaden your experience over time, this is an opportunity to hone your craft, build exposure to greater payroll complexity and take the next step in your career within a growing business.

Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you'll be responsible for the accurate and timely end-to-end processing of payroll for our salaried workforce. You'll also act as a key point of expertise for payroll matters across the business, providing guidance and support to leaders, employees and stakeholders.

What you'll be doing

  • Take end-to-end ownership of payroll for your allocated portfolio.
  • Deliver accurate, timely payroll across a large employee population.
  • Manage employee changes, leave, adjustments, deductions, bonuses and terminations.
  • Complete payroll reconciliations, journals and month-end reporting.
  • Support statutory requirements including payroll tax, superannuation and STP.
  • Respond to employee and manager payroll queries with care and a strong service mindset.
  • Investigate payroll discrepancies and work through issues to resolution.
  • Partner with HR and teams across the business to maintain accurate employee and payroll data.
  • Support continuous improvement across our payroll systems, processes and ways of working.
  • Cross-skill across payroll portfolios, building your technical capability and supporting business continuity.

What we're looking for

  • Demonstrated end-to-end payroll experience within a medium to large organisation.
  • Experience managing volume payroll at pace.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, taxation, superannuation and statutory requirements.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a strong focus on payroll accuracy.
  • Strong reconciliation, reporting and problem-solving capability.
  • The ability to organise your workload and manage competing deadlines.
  • Confidence working with payroll systems, employee data and reporting tools.
  • Strong communication skills and a service-focused approach to employee queries.
  • A proactive mindset and willingness to improve processes and ways of working.
  • A collaborative approach and willingness to cross-skill and support the wider payroll team.
