McNab’s Group Finance team is looking for a Senior Commercial Analyst to join our commercial finance function.

The variety in this role comes from the breadth of what you’ll analyse. On one side, you’ll work across McNab’s internal performance – partnering with ops, building models, analysing results, forecasting what’s ahead and helping us better understand the drivers behind the numbers. On the other, you’ll turn your attention to the broader commercial opportunities we’re exploring, including M&A, new investment opportunities and the performance of our existing ventures.

It’s a hands-on analytical role for someone who enjoys getting deep into the numbers, but also wants the opportunity to apply those skills to a much broader range of commercial questions.

It’s a hands-on role where you’ll be expected to work with operations and understand the respective business drivers to convert detailed financial analysis into broader commercial thinking. You’ll have the autonomy to own your work, follow the numbers through to meaningful insights and, as your knowledge of the business grows, see your analysis contribute directly to the decisions we make.

What you'll be doing

• Build and maintain sophisticated financial and three-way models.
• Support budgeting, quarterly reforecasting and longer-term strategic planning.
• Provide commercial analysis and insights to support business decisions.
• Analyse M&A, investment and other commercial opportunities.
• Support investment analysis across ROI, ROE and capital allocation.
• Work across complex data and systems to ensure accuracy and a reliable source of truth.
• Partner with stakeholders across the Group to understand business drivers and challenge assumptions.
• Continuously improve our modelling, reporting and analytical processes.
• Present insights and recommendations directly to senior leaders and Executives.

What we're looking for

You’re highly analytical, commercially curious and naturally want to understand why the numbers look the way they do. You can get deep into a model or dataset when required, but you’re also capable of stepping back, joining the dots and turning that analysis into something commercially meaningful which drives outcomes.

You take ownership of your work, hold yourself to a high standard and are comfortable backing your analysis. You’ll enjoy an environment where you’re given structure and support, but also the autonomy to run with opportunities and continue building your commercial capability independently.

• People person who partners with operations, building real relationships and connecting the ground level reality with the numbers.
• Advanced Excel and exceptional financial modelling capability.
• Strong commercial acumen and analytical problem-solving skills.
• Experience across commercial analysis, budgeting and forecasting.
• Exposure to M&A, investments, corporate finance or transaction analysis.
• The ability to build and interrogate integrated financial models.
• Strong attention to detail and confidence working with complex data.
• The ability to translate detailed analysis into clear commercial insights and tell the story.
• Strong communication and stakeholder skills, with the confidence to work with senior leaders.
• Ideal but not mandatory, experience with construction or property. Equally, we’re interested in people coming from corporate finance, transactions, private equity, Big 4 or other complex commercial environments

A CA/CPA qualification is valued but isn’t essential. We’re open to different backgrounds and disciplines – what matters most is your analytical capability, commercial thinking and ability to build and understand sophisticated financial models.
