We are seeking a Production Manager to join our team, based at Acacia ridge.

About the Role

As Production Manager, you’ll take the lead in driving the safe, efficient and high-quality operation of the BridgeFab structural steel workshop.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll turn project programmes into practical production plans, ensuring our workshop has the people, materials, equipment and processes needed to deliver projects, on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.

You’ll lead a diverse production team including Workshop Manager, Supervisors, Fabricators, Operators, Labourers and Apprentices, creating a high-performing culture built on safety, accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.

Working closely with the BridgeFab Manager and project teams, you’ll play a key role in keeping production moving, identifying constraints early and finding practical solutions when challenges arise.

You’ll be responsible for:

• Leading the day-to-day workshop operations across safety, quality, productivity, cost and delivery
• Developing and managing production schedules aligned to project programmes and critical milestones
• Planning labour, materials, equipment and resources to optimise workshop performance
• Leading, coaching and developing the production team through a hands-on “player-coach” approach
• Driving a strong safety culture through visible leadership and proactive risk management
• Ensuring fabricated steelwork meets drawings, specifications, welding standards, tolerances and quality requirements
• Overseeing inspections, ITPs, defects, non-conformances and corrective actions
• Monitoring productivity, labour utilisation, overtime, waste and production performance
• Managing workshop budgets, reporting and operational costs
• Identifying production constraints and implementing recovery plans to keep projects on programme
• Driving continuous improvement across safety, quality, productivity and profitability
• Ensuring completed steelwork is correctly packaged, documented and ready for delivery and installation
• Maintaining a safe, clean, organised and high-performing workshop environment

Ultimately, you’ll be the person who keeps the workshop performing by bringing together people, planning, production and quality to deliver exceptional outcomes for our projects and our clients.

About You

You’ll be a hands-on leader who sets the standard, brings people with you and creates a workshop culture where people want to do a good job. You’ll also have the planning and commercial awareness to look ahead, understand what’s coming and make sure the workshop is ready for it.

You’ll also bring:

• Proven experience as a Production Manager, Workshop Manager or equivalent with a strong understanding of structural steel fabrication and workshop operations
• Strong knowledge and understanding of the construction industry
• Significant knowledge of welding, QA requirements and specifications
• Experience leading and developing production teams, including Supervisors, Leading Hands and trades
• The ability to turn project programmes into practical and achievable workshop production plans
• Strong scheduling and organisational skills, with the ability to identify issues early and find solutions
• A genuine commitment to safety and quality, with the confidence to hold yourself and others accountable
• An understanding of production costs, labour utilisation, overtime, waste and productivity
• Strong negotiation and influencing skills with the ability to build lasting relationships
• A practical approach to problem solving, with the ability to think creatively and find better ways of doing things
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
• AS 1796 certification, with 10 or IW-B would be advantageous but not essential
• A current Construction White Card
• A current driver’s licence
