About the role
We are seeking an experienced Management Accountant to join our Finance team. In this role, you will play a key part in delivering timely and accurate financial reporting, providing meaningful analysis and insights, and supporting sound commercial decision-making across the business. Working closely with key stakeholders, you will develop a strong understanding of the Group's financial performance, reporting frameworks and governance requirements, ensuring financial information is accurate, compliant and fit for purpose.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Review month end financial results, including journals and balance sheet reconciliations to ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial reporting.
- Prepare monthly management reports tracking financial performance against budget and other key performance indicators.
- Perform variance analysis on actual results compared with budget and forecasts across profit and cost centres, providing meaningful insights to management.
- Manage project WIP reporting, analysing project performance and identifying trends, risks and opportunities to support informed decision making.
- Develop a sound understanding of balance sheet reconciliations to identify unusual movements, investigate issues, and communicate financial impacts where required.
- Establish financial reporting structures for new businesses, functions, and acquisitions in line with the McNab framework.
- Develop a strong understanding of the organisation's budgeting and forecasting processes, key financial drivers, and underlying assumptions to effectively interpret results and communicate insights to management.
- Support budget owners in the preparation of the annual operational, capital expenditure & revenue budgets consistent with long term business strategies.
- Identify, implement, and monitor revenue, cost management and other strategies to achieve or exceed annual financial objectives.
- Prepare financial information and supporting documentation for the annual audit and year-end reporting requirements
- Calculate and report QBCC obligations.
- Review ATO compliance and statutory lodgements to ensure completeness and accuracy.
About you
You will have:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- CA or CPA qualified.
- Demonstrated experience in a Financial Accountant and/or Management Accountant role, with experience preparing and analysing management reporting.
- Experience within the construction industry is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of month end financial reporting processes, including journals, balance sheet reconciliations and financial controls.
- Sound understanding of budgeting and forecasting processes, key financial drivers and the ability to interpret and communicate financial performance to stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to present complex financial information to non-financial audiences.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying issues and recommending solutions.
- High level of attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
