At McNab, we know that paying our people accurately and on time is one of the most important commitments we make. We're looking for an experienced Senior Payroll Officer to join our team and play a key role in delivering an exceptional payroll service across the McNab Group.
Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you'll be responsible for the accurate and timely end-to-end processing of payroll while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, awards, enterprise agreements and company policies. You'll also act as a key point of expertise for payroll matters across the business, providing guidance and support to leaders, employees and stakeholders.
This is an opportunity for an experienced payroll professional who enjoys solving complex payroll challenges, driving process improvements and delivering a high level of service to internal customers.
What you'll be doing
- Processing end-to-end payroll accurately and on time across a diverse workforce.
- Ensuring compliance with payroll legislation, awards, enterprise agreements and company policies.
- Acting as a key point of contact for payroll queries from employees, managers and stakeholders.
- Managing payroll reporting requirements and supporting audit and compliance activities.
- Monitoring legislative changes and implementing payroll updates where required.
- Investigating and resolving payroll discrepancies and complex payroll matters.
- Supporting payroll system improvements and process optimisation initiatives.
- Assisting with payroll reconciliations, statutory obligations and end-of-period reporting.
- Building strong relationships across the business to deliver a responsive and customer-focused payroll service.
- Supporting the Payroll Manager in maintaining a high-performing payroll function.
What we're looking for
- Demonstrated experience in end-to-end payroll processing within a medium to large and complex organisation.
- Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, awards, enterprise agreements and compliance requirements.
- Experience managing payroll reporting and statutory obligations.
- High attention to detail with a strong focus on accuracy and quality.
- Ability to interpret complex payroll information and provide practical solutions.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build credibility with stakeholders at all levels.
- A proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Payroll system experience and confidence working with payroll technology and reporting tools.
