About the role

As a Senior Contracts Administrator, you will take full ownership of the commercial performance of your project, operating with a high level of autonomy and minimal oversight.

This role is suited to someone who can confidently lead all aspects of contract administration on large or complex projects, while also supporting and mentoring other team members.

You will work closely with the Project Manager, Site Manager, clients, and consultants to drive strong commercial outcomes, proactively manage risk, and ensure projects are delivered in line with McNab’s high standards.

Responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):

  • Maintain proactive and positive relationships with client, subcontractors, consultants and suppliers.
  • Lead the preparation and delivery of subcontractor packages, scopes, lettings and procurement strategies.
  • Plan actions and manage all documentation in alignment with the Head Contract, identifying and addressing risks and discrepancies early.
  • Take full ownership of project costs and budget outcomes, maintaining an up-to-date and accurate understanding of the project’s financial position at all times.
  • Lead and drive contract administration processes including variations, EOTs, claims and head contract compliance.
  • Support the Project Manager and Site Manager to determine and communicate an effective request for information (RFI) management process with subcontractors.
  • Ensure project document control meets all contract requirements, including drawings, specifications and reports.
  • Develop and manage budget targets, identifying key risks and opportunities to achieve the best commercial outcomes.
  • Manage and maintain cost control software (Jobpac), including budget entry, commitments, forecasting, variations, payments, and coding of invoices.
  • Lead monthly forecasting, cashflow and reporting processes, providing clear and accurate commercial insights to the project and senior leadership team.
  • Assist in preparing all required reports for monthly project report meetings, proactively advising of risks, opportunities, and changes, and contributing to strategic discussions.
  • Provide mentoring, guidance and support to Contract Administrators and Cadets within the project team.

About you

  • Tertiary qualification in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying or related field.
  • Strong commercial awareness with a proven ability to drive project outcomes and maximise profitability.
  • Demonstrated experience operating as the lead Contracts Administrator on commercial construction projects of a similar size and complexity.
  • Strong understanding of contract management, including head contract administration, procurement, cost control and risk management.
  • Ability to operate independently, make decisions confidently, and influence outcomes across all project stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain commercially beneficial relationships with clients, subcontractors and consultants.
  • Act decisively with an ability to problem solve and manage competing priorities.
