We are looking for a Capability Partner who brings curiosity, commercial thinking and a collaborative mindset to shaping frameworks, coaching leaders and turning insight into action.

About the role

Reporting to the Learning, Talent & Capability Manager or Talent & Capability Lead, this role will play a pivotal part in designing, implementing and maintaining McNab's capability framework. Working closely with business leaders and subject matter experts, you will identify critical competencies, assess capability gaps and translate them into targeted learning and development solutions that support business priorities and future workforce needs.

In this role, you will:

  • Partner with McNab Group business leaders to assess current and future capability needs and align these to the capability framework
  • Design, maintain and continuously improve the capability framework so it reflects legislative requirements, role expectations, business priorities and emerging industry needs
  • Establish clear capability design standards, proficiency levels and quality requirements
  • Coordinate the review and approval of capability sets with People Partners, subject matter experts and business leaders
  • Shape clear capability pathways that support development plans, role progression and internal talent pipelines
  • Use workforce insights, industry trends and business data to continuously evolve the capability framework and anticipate future capability requirements.
  • Administer and maintain the capability system, ensuring accurate structure, functionality and user support across the business
  • Coach and support leaders and team members to use the framework effectively in development conversations, annual reviews and growth planning
  • Use data, feedback and emerging technology to identify future capability needs and report on framework adoption, capability gaps and user experience
  • Partner with learning specialists to align learning solutions with identified capability requirements and broader learning strategy

About you

We are looking for someone who can build trust quickly, influence across the business and bring structure to complex capability challenges.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A tertiary qualification in Business, Human Resources, Education or a related discipline
  • Strong experience in capability framework development and implementation
  • Experience partnering with leaders to influence workforce capability, organisational development or talent initiatives will be highly regarded.
  • Confidence coaching and mentoring leaders and team members to build capability and support meaningful development conversations
  • Experience embedding development frameworks into career pathways, performance planning and growth initiatives
  • Confidence in system administration and a practical approach to improving processes and user experience
  • Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams and with stakeholders at all levels
  • Clear and engaging communication skills, with a people-focused and solutions-driven approach
  • A curious, adaptable and continuous learning mindset, with the confidence to challenge, improve and move things forward
  • A strong understanding of the construction industry and relevant legislative and compliance requirements is desirable
