As McNab continues to grow and evolve how we operate, we’re looking for a new Group Financial Controller to lead our financial control environment and ensure the integrity, accuracy and performance of our finance function at scale.
This is a critical leadership role within the Group, partnering closely with Finance, Commercial and Operations to ensure financial information is not only accurate and compliant, but genuinely useful in driving better business decisions.
This role is ideal for a technically strong and commercially aware finance leader who enjoys owning the detail, improving systems and processes, and building a high-performing team.
About the Role
As Group Financial Controller, you’ll take ownership of financial reporting, compliance and control environment, while also playing a key role in improving how finance supports the broader business.
You’ll sit at the centre of Finance providing clarity, clean and compliant reporting, and financial controls that scale with the Group.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead Group month-end reporting, ensuring timely, accurate and high-quality outputs
- Prepare and review monthly financial statements and performance reporting
- Monitor performance against budget, providing clear variance analysis and insights
- Maintain integrity of financial ledgers and ensure strong control over transactions and reporting
- Oversee year-end processes, including audit and statutory financial reporting
- Manage tax compliance across the Group, working closely with external advisors
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations including ATO and QBCC requirements
- Support banking relationships, including reporting and covenant compliance
- Drive continuous improvement across finance systems, processes and controls
- Partner with Commercial and Operations teams to improve financial understanding and decision-making
- Mentor and lead the finance team, building capability and consistency across the function
The Ideal Candidate
This role suits a strong Financial Controller or Senior Finance leader who enjoys both technical ownership and business partnership.
You’ll bring:
- CPA or CA qualification
- Significant experience in a Financial Controller or similar leadership role
- Strong technical accounting capability across reporting, tax and compliance
- Experience operating in complex, multi-entity environments
- Proven ability to improve systems, processes and controls
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability
- Confidence partnering with senior stakeholders across the business
- Experience leading and developing finance teams
Experience in construction or a similar project-based environment is highly regarded, along with exposure to systems such as Jobpac or Power BI.
